The Downed redwood is over 15 feet tall at the uprooted base, with the log being over 6 foot... the standing tree is about 12 foot ACROSS! It was dusk, late evening... about a 2.5 mile hike on this particular trail... a bit over cast... and slightly challenging because of the massive shadows - near blackness, and yet bright sunny looking spots lurking through the dense canopy. I was shooting for contrast, distance, and attempting to capture the beauty & wonder of the living & dead (but still productive). There are some AWESOME & FREE trails just off the highway just a few miles from the pacific ocean in N. California & S. Oregon...
